PESHAWAR, June 27: The Watan Welfare Society, a local NGO has decided to establish the first ever trauma centre here, a press release said on Sunday.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the board of directors of the Watan Welfare Society (WWS) on Sunday.

In view of the ratio of accidents and non-existence of trauma centre in the city, the meeting decided to establish a centre where accident patients could be provided treatment.

A committee of seven members was constituted to prepare feasibility report in this regard.

The meeting also decided to arrange various events on completion of the 10 years of the establishment of the society to make people aware about blood transfusion and causes and prevention of burns.

The WWS, was founded in 1994, is running a centre for burns treatment and a blood bank. It also decided to organise special seminars to raise awareness about blood donation among the people.

It said that most of the people held wrong notion that donating blood was harmful to the human health. Nevertheless, it said that donating blood every three months for healthy people was good for human health.
