SUKKUR: Five killed in accident

SUKKUR, June 26: Five persons were killed when a jeep and a trailer collided head-on near Faiz Abad, Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station jurisdiction, some 20 kilometres off here, on Saturday.

Syed Haider Taqi Shah, son of Miran Shah, Sajjada Nasheen of Ranipur, his relatives and friends were on the way to Larkana when their jeep (P-748) collided with the trailer (AE-0904).

Mr Shah, Ghazi Ahmad Shah Jeelani, Abdul Razzaq, and their two servants, Mohammad Panjal and Hazoor Bux Chandio, died in the accident.

INJURED: Three persons were injured when they offered resistance to armed robbers in Bachal Shah Miani here on Friday night.

Ten robbers barged into houses of the Channa community and tried to take away four buffaloes. The inmates woke up and offered resistance to the robbers, who opened indiscriminate fire.

Farooq, Ishaq and Mehboob were injured in the firing. Ishaq was taken to a Karachi hospital in a critical condition.

Later, people held a protest demonstration against police for failing to curb robberies and other crimes in the area.

CLASH: Four persons were injured in an armed clash between Sabzoi and Bhangwar tribes over water rotation programme near Kandhkot on Saturday.

The injured, Mohammad Ayub, Abdul Rehman Bhangwar, Azad Khan and Karim Bux, were taken to the Kandhkot Taluka Hospital.
