SUKKUR, June 25: A man and his son were killed by armed men near the Kobhar railway station on Friday after a jirga at the residence of Sardar Ahmed Yar Khan Shar failed to settle a dispute.

A year ago, Sattar Shar was gunned down by a group of armed men over a piece of land and the case was under trial in the court of law. However, the two groups agreed to a jirga and compensation of the murder.

It is said that Sardar Ahmed Yar Shar announced a heavy compensation for the murder and also ordered that the disputed land be given to Hasil Shar, the father of the deceased.

When Hasil Shar, 70, and his another son, Ghulam Nabi Shar, 35, were returning home after jirga, the armed men opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.

The assailants fled after committing the crime. No arrest was reported till the filing of this report.
