KARACHI, May 29: Powerful teenager Adnan Khan won the Boys under-18 Anti-Tobacco Day Tennis Tournament organised by the Pakistan Women's Tennis Association , when he ended the winning streak of Hyderabad's Saad Baloch 6-3, 6-2 at the Karachi Club hardcourts on Saturday.

In the semifinals top seed Adnan beat Saad's younger twin Samad 6-3, 6-0, while Saad accounted for the second seed Jalil Khan 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

With both players excelling with powerful forehand and backhand smashes, Adnan won the first set 6-3 and engaging his determined opponent in long rallies from the baseline took the second set also 6-2, to emerge a happy winner.

During the second set Saad had a bout of cramps which prevented him from bringing out his best in the second set.

The previous evening Saad was on court for seven long hours. His semifinal clash with Jalil lasted four and half hours and then getting a five minute rest was on court again in the Men's doubles, where the twins ousted the fancied pair of Hassan Bhagat and Yasir Khan in a match which lasted two and half hours.

However the Baloch brothers winning many friends over here made their exit in the Men's doubles semifinal, but not before extending the second seeds Nomi Qamar and Asad Bhagat in three hard fought out sets.

After losing the first set 6-4, the twins bounced back to take the second 7-5 and continuing to fight to the very end, lost the third set and match 6-4 after Asad sealed the fate of the match with a powerful smash which whizzed past the Baloch brothers.

Top seed Sana Bhagat on course of registering her fourth consecutive triumph in this tournament, sailed into the final after a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Aley Zehra, who seemed to be a bundle of nerves on the court.

Sana will now take on Zarmeen in the final, after the young lady was awarded a walk-over against second seed Hareem Bhagat, who was caught up in a traffic jam and could not arrive on the venue on time.
