VEHARI: Vehari sizzles at 48oC

VEHARI, May 22: At least four people, including two schoolboys, fainted as mercury shot up to 48 degrees centigrade in the district on Saturday.

The schoolboys were reportedly waiting for a conveyance at the general bus stand when they fell unconscious. They were rushed to a nearby clinic.

Life came to a standstill due to intense heat. Roads wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay indoors. Business activities also remained suspended.

Electricity tripping added to the miseries of the people.

JAILED: PML-N MPA Dr Nazir Dogar from Burewala also who was arrested on May 11 was sent to Central Jail, Multan, on Saturday.

The detention orders were issued by the Punjab home secretary.

Dr Dogar is involved in 44 criminal cases. He also faces the charges of creating unrest and disturbance and violating terms and conditions of surety bond signed at the time of his release in August, 2002.
