ISLAMABAD, May 15: Pakistan on Saturday named both boys and girls teams for participation in the 12th Asian Senior squash championship being held at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) next month.

The boys squad comprises Mansoor Zaman, Shahid Zaman, Farrukh Zaman and Majid Khan while the girls selected for the June 18-26 Championship are: Maria Toor Pakay, Sara Awan, Muqaddas Ashraf and Gul Zaman.

Pakistani girls will make their debut in the championship.

Senior vice president of Pakistan Squash Federation, Air Marshal Raashid Kalim, announced the teams with the hope that the players would perform well at Kuala Lumpur.

In his briefing, the SVP PSF said that all the 24 teams had confirmed participation in the World Junior Squash Championship to be played at Mushaf Squash Complex, Pakistan Sports Complex, from August 17-28 this year.

"The training camp for Pakistan team is in progress at Islamabad under national coach Rehmat Khan and Director Coaching Jamshed Gul", Raashid said. "We are hopeful that with the tremendous efforts of coaches and hard work by the players, we shall Inshaallah produce good results in the championship.

He said efforts were underway to arrange participation in squash leagues in England for both juniors and seniors simultaneously so as to give them more international exposure.-APP
