HYDERABAD, May 15: The women's wing of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Hyderabad chapter, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday against the killings of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal activists in Karachi at the hands of what they called US agents.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahnaz Baqai, Rukhsana Tanveer, Talat Sattar and other women leaders said that the Sindh government had failed to protect the life and property of people.

LAND: A resident of Kehar Goth, Larkana taluka, has threatened to commit self-immolation outside the Governor's House if the possession of his land occupied by a landlord is not restored to him.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday, the villager, Muzaffar Ali Kehar, said that this land was in possession of Imdad Hussain Kehar and the defunct Larkana division's former commissioner, Nazar Mohammad Mahar, who vide orders dated Aug 8, 2000, had given the decision regarding the land ownership in his favour.

However, he said that after the death of Imdad Kehar, the land was taken over by his son-in-law, Shabbir Ahmad Kehar.

He said that the land was not being restored to him as he was poor and had no influence. He appealed to higher authorities to restore the possession of the land to him as he was its legal owner.
