SAHIWAL, May 14: A dacoit was killed and another injured by police on the Chichawatni-Burewala Road on Friday. An ambulance driver was also injured in the firing.

Mushtaq hired an ambulance from the DHQ Hospital to take a patient to a village in Chichawatni sub-division. On way back, he along with his accomplice, Mukhtar, stole six goats and loaded them in the ambulance. Near Chak 43/12-L, a police party signalled them to stop, but the driver accelerated. The police opened fire as a result of which Mushtaq and four goats were killed and Mukhtar and driver Zahid injured. The injured were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

PROTEST: The Jamaat-i-Islami took out a procession here on Friday to condemn the killing of 11 MMA workers in Karachi.

The procession was led by Dr Saeed Nizami, Iqbal Wajid, Dr Abdul Qadir Lashari, Shaikh Shahid Hamid and Mehr Mohammad Abbas.

The protesters demanded fresh byelection in Sindh under the supervision of the army and the Rangers.
