RIYADH, April 30: In case PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif is arrested upon landing in Pakistan and is deported to Saudi Arabia, the Saudi government would honour and respect the 'agreement' it brokered between the government of Pakistan and the Sharif family , believes Abdul Aziz Mirza, the Pakistani ambassador here.

A lot would depend on how the government in Islamabad wanted to deal with the situation, he said during a brief chat with this correspondent. He, however, clarified he was not in contact with the Saudi government on the issue.

"Even if something is being discussed between the governments in Islamabad and Riyadh on this issue, I am not aware of it. Maybe the Saudi envoy in Islamabad could be in a position to say something, if some consultation was going on between the two governments on the issue," he said.

He appeared confident that the issue would not stir much commotion in the political life of the country. He said that when the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan had visited the two exiled former prime ministers in Jeddah and Dubai last year he urged them to return to Pakistan.

However, each of the former prime ministers wanted the other to go first, saying that it was now the other's turn to render sacrifices for democracy in Pakistan. Ambassador Mirza said that in view of statements of President Pervez Musharraf and ministers, it appeared that the government would honour the court's ruling.
