FAISALABAD, April 17: A medical board on Saturday confirmed police torture on two men who were recovered from the illegal detention of an investigation wing inspector by a special judicial magistrate.

The medical examination was conducted on the orders of the district and sessions judge.

Headed by DHQ Hospital's medical superintendent, the board said in its report that a dozen marks of torture on the bodies of Amjad Ali and Riaz Hussain were found. Six wounds were of serious nature while a leg of Riaz had been broken.

The report said that the two victims were inflicted wounds with cigarettes.

The district and sessions judge had constituted a team, headed by Special Judicial Magistrate Kazim Awan, for the recovery of Amjad and Riaz from the illegal detention of Inspector Chishti.

The team recovered the two men from the Madina Town private torture cell of Inspector Chisti and produced them before the court.

Hammers, iron chains, tweezers, bamboos, iron-tongs, wooden and iron gadgets, illegal weapons, narcotics, spare parts of motorcycles, a motorcycle, a jeep and a car without registration number plates, a bicycle and police uniforms were also seized from the torture cell.

The victims had informed the court that they were rounded up on April 2 and were severely tortured at the private torture cell of Inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chisti who demanded Rs1 million for their release.

The court adjourned the hearing for April 19 and summoned Inspector Chisti.

Police sources said that Inspector Chisti was notorious for keeping innocent people in illegal confinement, implicating them in cases and torturing them for extorting money.

CASE REGISTERED: The women police station registered on Saturday a case against three men on the charge of raping a girl in a public call office of a nearby village.

Khurram, Rizwan and their unidentified accomplice overpowered the girl and raped her at gun point when she visited a Jaranwala PCO.

The accused were at large till late on Saturday night.
