FAISALABAD, April 10: The mystery of escape of main character involved in a financial scam of the Faisalabad dryport's laboratory could not be resolved on the second day , as both the Customs officials and the relatives of the suspect kept recording contradictory statements.

However, Chak Jhumra police have registered a case against the suspect, Muhammad Asif, his brother Muhammad Abid Bhatti and a friend (Nankana Sahib union council Naib Nazim), under section 409 and 109 PPC.

The Customs officials claimed in the complaint that a special team was taking Asif to his house at Nankana Sahib for the recovery of the embezzled amount and documents when a group of armed men got him released.

Police had registered a case against Asif for appropriating a huge amount and accepting bribes, but no section of PPC related to forced escape had been mentioned because the incident took place out of Chak Jhumra police station's jurisdiction.

On the other hand, Asif's relatives denied the official claims about his forced release, saying the allegation had been levelled to pressure them.

They claimed that the Customs officials took Asif to Nankana Sahib and inspected some rooms of their house. Later, the team along with Asif, his brother Abid and friend Arshad Chaudhry returned to Faisalabad and first informed them that Asif had managed to escape from the dryport and later staged a drama to conceal their crime.
