KARACHI, April 3: Residents of Lyari Town have expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation in the locality and urged the government to take steps to check lawlessness.

They said a sense of insecurity prevailed among the people due to frequent violent incidents and police have failed to arrest the culprits.

Area people claim that more than 50 people have been killed in violence-related incidents during the last three months and the situation is aggravating.

The gravity of the situation could be gauged from the recent incident that even the sons of the Town Nazims were not safe.

A Kalakot area resident said that the locality had become a ghost area where people were forced to shut their doors after sunset. Another resident said drug mafia reigned supreme in the locality and most of the violent incidents took place due to their internal rivalries.
