ISLAMABAD, April 2: The Accountability Court Rawalpindi on Friday awarded five years imprisonment to the former general manager/project director of Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) , Mohammad Hayat Chaddu, for misuse of power and accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The court also imposed a fine amount of Rs2 million on the convict, besides ordering for confiscation of properties made by him during service. In case of non-payment of the fine, the convict will have to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment.
Investigation showed that the convict remained a public servant from 1958 to 1998, and retired from the Water and Power Development Authority in BPS-20 as the GBHP general manager/project director.
