BADIN, March 13: The People's Party Parliamentarians has said democracy has a bleak future in Pakistan as basic human rights are being violated and the country is facing internal and external crises.

Speaking at a PPP women activists' workshop here on Saturday, party MNAs Naheed Khan, Dr Fehmida Mirza and Shagufta Jumani and MPAs Humera Alwani, Sassui Palijo and Nuzhat Pathan said that the country's institutions were on the verge of collapse.

The accused the government of victimizing the opposition, termed the accountability process one-sided and said the government was misusing the judicial process by tailoring laws to suit the rulers.

They said PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari had been languishing in jail though no charge had been proved against him.

They said party chairperson Benazir Bhutto would soon return to the country.

Lauding the role of woman activists in the party, the PPP leaders said they equally contributed in the party's victory in the election.

More 100 woman activists of the PPP participated in the workshop.
