HYDERABAD, March 12: A woman has appealed to the authorities to protect her life and that of her husband as they may be killed on the pretext of Karo-kari.

Zahida, wife of Taj Mohammad Chandio, residents of the Mir Mohammad Qambrani village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, Dadu district, was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday.

She said that she had married in a court in Mehar, which had enraged her father, Bakhshal Qambrani, and brother, Abbas Qambrani, who were influential persons.

Mrs Chandio said that her father and brother could kill her and her husband on the pretext of Karo-kari. Therefore, she added, they had escaped from the Dadu area, were hiding in one or the other place but being chased by her relatives and the Dadu police.

She alleged that the police had arrested 10 relatives of her husband - Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Latif, Bhooro, Shahzado, Allah Dino, Nazeer, Kaloo, Mahram, Wazir and Mir Mohammad - who were being tortured. She added that the police had not brought their arrest on record.-Bureau
