Published February 29, 2004

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Feb 28: Two Belgian cyclists on an intercontinental tour arrived here on Saturday. On their way from Australia to Belgium, ex-customs officer Gommers Frans (58) and Van Den Broeck Leonie (53), a housewife, are travelling through Pakistan these days.

Starting their journey from Melbourne, they have so far travelled through Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos and India. They will reach Belgium via Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy and France. They cover 100 to 140km in a day.

Talking to Dawn, they said it was just their hobby and they did not want to break any record.

They said it had been a nice experience travelling through Pakistan but they faced problems due to a lack of traffic signs and street names.

They thanked the NH&MP for guiding them in every city and offering them tea and soft drinks.

They will leave for Ghotki on Sunday morning.
