RAWALPINDI, Feb 5: Kashmir Solidarity Day has been observed with enthusiasm proving to the world that Kashmir is an inseparable part of Pakistan.

This was stated by district Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani while speaking at a rally held in connection with Kashmir Day here on Thursday.

"It is clear that nothing could deter Kashmir from attaining freedom. The people of Kashmir should not feel alone in their hour of trial, he added.

He said the message emanating from these rallies and functions was that Muslims in general and Pakistanis in particular could not remain aloof from the atrocities being committed in held Kashmir.

He said people condemned all sort of excesses being committed against Muslims all over the world.

The civilized world, he said, was regrettably silent over the atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian occupation troops in the occupied Kashmir.

Reiterating the moral support by Pakistan, the Nazim said the government and people here would do whatsoever possible for rousing world conscience on this issue.

Tehsil Nazim Raja Hamid Nawaz said the Kashmir struggle was an historic reality.

Participants of the rally renewed their commitment to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom.

Banners had been put up all over the city by people from different walks of life to highlight the Kashmir cause.

Meanwhile, Punjab minister for local bodies Raja Basharat, speaking at a ceremony held at Rawalpindi Arts Council, said amicable settlement of the Kashmir dispute was need of the hour.

AJK youth rally: The All Jammu and Kashmir Youth Council (AJKYC) held a rally on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day here on Thursday.

The participants of the rally gathered in front of the offices of the United Nations Military Observers for India and Pakistan, where the AJKYC leaders in their speeches condemned India for its occupation of Kashmir.

They also made a human chain and staged a sit-in to draw world attention towards the plight of Kashmiris. The participants, including women, children and elderly, were waving banners and placards and chanting slogans against India.

AJKYC Chairman Sardar Mumtaz Abbasi appreciated the resumption of peace talks between India and Pakistan. He hoped that the process would lead to the peaceful resolution of the imbroglio.

He said Pakistan had been extending all moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir. He hoped that the day was not far away when the sacrifices of the valley bore fruits and the Kashmiris won freedom from Indian yoke.

Mr Abbasi expressed concern over the continuing atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian troops on the innocent Kashmiris and stressed on the world community to prevail upon India to halt repression and accept the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir according to the UN resolutions.

The AJKYC representatives also presented a memorandum to the UN military observer. The memorandum emphasised the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions. A group of schoolchildren presented national songs and anthems of Kashmir on the occasion.
