Published February 5, 2004

LAHORE, Feb 4: The 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' will be observed in the provincial metropolis on Thursday to press for the adoption of the UN resolution to give the Kashmiris the right to self-determination.

A number of processions will be taken out on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam to express solidarity with the freedom struggle of the people of Kashmir and press for implementation of the UN resolution.

The main procession will be taken out by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal. The MMA leaders - Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, Pir Ijaz Hashmi, Malik Muhammad Ashraf and Prof Sajid Mir - will lead the procession to be taken out from Nasser Bagh to Faisal Square.

The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and Kashmir Action Committee will demonstrate on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam as a part of the programme.

The City District Government has cancelled its march from Nasser Bagh to Faisal Square, which was to be led by District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood, as it did not expect much attendance on account of closure of its offices.

The government has declared a public holiday today to enable people to participate in the rallies.
