QUETTA, April 23: Chief Minister Jam Yousuf has said that media has an important role in strengthening democratic institutions. Speaking at the annual dinner of the Quetta Press Club here on Friday night, he said that no one could negate media’s importance. He said that a free and responsible press could play a positive role in boosting democratic institutions.

He said that with the construction of the new building of the press club a healthy atmosphere would be available for the journalist community.

He announced a grant of Rs4 million for furnishing the new building of the club.

Earlier, Quetta Press Club president Rashid Beg in his welcome address lauded the cooperation of former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, former governor Amirul Mulk Mengal and Chief Minister Jam Yousuf.
