GUJRANWALA, April 23: Police on Friday registered a case against six people for allegedly killing PML city secretary-general Sheikh Zulfikar Ali Cheeniwala. Reports said the family of the PML leader had nominated POs Raheel Shahzad, Papu Shahzad, Asif Shahzad, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Akram and Nadeem in the FIR. The family sources said the accused had shot injured another trader Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal over a monetary dispute a few months ago. They were forcing Sheikh Zulfikar Ali for reconciliation with Mr Iqbal. But he reportedly refused to do so. Consequently, they shot dead Zulfikar Ali.

Model Town police are conducting raids for the arrest of the accused.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead by dacoits on offering resistance here on Saturday in Rakh Kikranwala village, Ferozewala.

Reports said Rana Ashfaq Ahmad, brother of journalist Rana Ishtiaq Ahmad, was asleep when four outlaws forced their entry into the house by scaling the boundary wall. In the meantime, Ashfaq woke up and offered resistance. The gangsters shot him dead and made off with Rs10,000 and jewellery.
