Seven die as two wagons collide

KASUR, April 23: Seven people, including two women and a child, were killed while dozens of passengers suffered injuries in a collision between two speeding wagons on Saturday at Chhanga Manga on Chunian Road. Reports said a Chunian-bound wagon (LDL-1849) collided with another van (LHP-9483) as a result Mohammad Hanif, Sharif Bhatti, Sughran Bibi, Ramzana Bibi, Sultan, Mujahid Husain and Sultan Shah died on the spot while dozens of passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed while 12 passengers sustained injuries as a speeding wagon overturned at Jambar village, Phoolnagar.

Reports said the Pattoki-bound vehicle overturned while negotiating a turn, killing Hamidan Bibi on the spot. The injured were identified as Shabbir Ahmad, Khadim, Razzaq, Shafiq, Hanif, Sakina Bibi, Razia Bibi, Ramzan Ali, Afzal Hussain, Faqir Ahmad, Rukhsana Bibi and her child Farooq (6).

SHOT DEAD: Eight people shot dead a man and injured three others over a minor dispute on Saturday at Mari Mangal Singh Chak 55, Raiwind.

Police said, Abdul Haq, Shamasuddin, Niamat along with five accomplices entered the outhouse of Abdul Hamid, where his friends Nawaz, Arshad and Mohammad Jamil were present. After an exchange of hot words, the accused opened fire, killing Abdul Hamid on the spot while his friends sustained injuries and were rushed to Kot Radha Kishan rural health centre.
