KARACHI, April 23: Arrangements for the holding of local bodies elections, scheduled to be held in July-August, are in the process of finalization. This was stated by Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar told journalists after a book-launching ceremony here on Friday.

The Seats Amendment Ordinance is expected to be announced soon by governors of all four provinces, he said, adding that this would enable the election commission to implement the plan for increasing women seats and curtail the total number of the seats previously allocated for local bodies at different levels.

In reply to questions about new districts in Sindh, he said there would be no confusion as the lists of eligible voters were available with the election commission.

Justic Dogar said that ballot boxes and paper for ballot papers for the local bodies polls had been procured.

He said that he would be holding a meeting with the commissioner and other officials of the Sindh Election Commission on Saturday to review the arrangements for the elections in Sindh. — APP
