PESHAWAR, April 21: Inspector General of Police Muhammad Riffat Pasha here on Thursday briefed a delegation of National Institute of Public Administration, Karachi, on the working of police system in the NWFP. The IGP shared his personal experience of policing with the 21-member delegation of 79th advanced course in public administration at the CPO.

They were informed about the organizational structure, manpower, and working conditions of the Frontier police.

Mr Pasha said the provincial police force enjoyed good reputation among the people despite difficult circumstances like the presence of one million Afghan refugees and close proximity with tribal areas.

He said police were performing long and strenuous duties to maintain peace in the province. Of the total 34,309 policemen, 92 per cent were constables and 84 per cent of the police budget was spent on salaries and paying of other allowances, he added.

The delegation was led by Muhammad Zakir, chief instructor of the course. —APP
