TV ignoring hockey: PHF

Published April 21, 2005

KARACHI, April 20: The PHF has attributed ‘lack of media coverage’ as one of the main reasons for its failure to achieve the objective through marketing. This was the consensus of the PHF during the 79th general council meeting held at Lahore on Feb. 18, minutes of which were released on April 16.

Criticizing the Pakistan television, director marketing, PHF, Naveed Haider said: ‘the national TV was ignoring hockey as it offered little mileage to the sponsors.’

Continuing, he said previously no body concentrated on media coverage and it was a good idea to have committee for the purpose adding that before that PHF had to prepare marketable product in term of hockey team’s achievements.

While lauding the coverage both in print and electronic media, of the Champions’ Trophy as ‘excellent and tremendous’, he took a U-turn contradicting his own statement.
