KARACHI, May 31: The executive council of the Pakistan Muslim League has given a green signal to Mian Nawaz Sharif to return home before the October elections.

Mian Nawaz Sharif has also decided to come back as he has been making arrangements to ensure timely return to the country and lead election campaign, said PML senior vice-president Ejaz Shafi.

Although PML central leader did not clearly specify the schedule of his return, he claimed “everything stand set as we all are waiting anxiously for his much-awaited return to the country which would largely help rejuvenate the party.”

When asked to explain as to why the decision was taken so belatedly, he linked it with the ban on political activities by the government, adding he would rush to Pakistan the moment ban on political activities was lifted.

When posed a question about request by Nawaz Sharif’s to the Saudi government for allowing him to shift to the UK and lead an election campaign in Pakistan which was later rejected by the Saudis, he squarely refused such an impression.

Mr. Shafi termed the claims of self-exiled premier and chairperson of PPP Ms Benazir Bhutto regarding her return to home as “hollow claims.”

He reacted strongly over the Indian campaign against Pakistan, saying it will have some serious repercussions on India.

He was of the view that present government should realize the gravity of the situation and hand over power to elected government.—PPI
