KARACHI: Ex-constable shot dead

Published April 15, 2005

KARACHI, April 14: A former policeman was shot dead by unknown persons in New Karachi on Thursday. Police said that three young men in an auto-rickshaw came to the sector 5-C New Karachi. They asked for one Ghulam Rasool from a man standing near a house 64/1. As he showed his ignorance they moved on and asked another man named Zafaruddin, 42.

Zafar told them that Ghulam Rasool was the one they had inquired earlier. The suspects returned to Ghulam Rasool and started beating him badly.

As Zafaruddin interfered into the matter, the suspects shot him from point blank range and fled. Police have registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of Ghulam Rasool.

However, police said that according to the complainant he does not recognize the suspects who were inquiring about him. The deceased had five children.

It may be pertinent to mention here that on Wednesday night a police man was shot dead in a similar manner in Nazimabad by reportedly three suspects fleeing in an auto-rickshaw.
