KARACHI, April 8: In a most unexpected twist, Sui Gas notched up their first win in the Patron’s Cup on Friday when they surprised defending champions Habib Bank by six wickets at the LCCA ground in Lahore with Sufyan Munir guiding them home with a fine century.

Sufyan, who had never reached three figures in a limited-overs innings, hammered an unbeaten 102 off 93 deliveries with the help of 10 fours and one six as Sui Gas reached their target of 205 in the 47th over.

Saleem Mughal also played a crucial hand in his team’s success as he scored 43 during the fourth-wicket partnership of 116 with the right-handed Sufyan.

Earlier, medium-pacers Tauqir Hussain claimed five for 51 and Sajid Ali three for 47 to restrict Habib Bank to 204 all out in 46.1 overs.
