Adil, Aamir star in big win

Published April 9, 2005

KARACHI, April 8: Centuries by skipper Adil Nisar and Aamir Sajjad were the highlights of Wapda’s massive 171-run win against KPT in the Patron’s Cup Pool ‘A’ tie at the UBL Sports Complex on Friday.

Adil bludgeoned 131 off 112 balls while Aamir made a 106-ball 104 to help Wapda pile up 398 for seven in their 50 overs after winning the toss on a placid pitch.

The left-handed Adil stroked 12 fours and two sixes as he and Aamir put on a mammoth 243 for the third wicket. Aamir hit six fours and one six.

But it was the batting of big-hitting tailender Sarfraz Ahmed that eventually guided Wapda to the highest total of the ongoing competition.

The left-hander used the long handle disdainfully to hammer five huge sixes and three fours in scoring 45 off just 14 deliveries.

KPT, in reply, were sent packing for 227 inside 47 overs as they crashed to a fourth successive defeat.
