OKARA, April 8: In its bid to mobilize maximum of workers for Asif Zardari’s welcome, the PPP leaders are trying to iron out differences among lower tiers.

Secretary-General Jehangir Badr and Punjab council member Muhammad Sajjad visited Okara on Friday. Rival and disgruntled groups led by Abdul Sattar Wahla, Lahore division PYO president Izharul Haq Toor, Muhammad Sajjad and former chairman of the district Ushr & Zakat committee Ghias Khan were assembled by Mr Sajjad at the residence of district president and MPA Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna where they pledged to bury the hatchet.

Later, office-bearers of the district and the three tehsils met to discuss arrangements to welcome Zardari on April 16.

Mr Qureshi told Dawn PPP workers were committed and sincere. “However, they are very sensitive and cannot tolerate any mistake of their leaders.”

He said that he would make arrangements of over 300 buses to take workers to Lahore.
