LAHORE, April 8: A three-member delegation from Sri Lanka, led by tourism secretary Dr P. Ramanujam, is visiting Pakistan to participate in the Joint Working Group meeting on tourism and archaeology being held in the city on Saturday.

The delegation members are: Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage secretary A.P.A. Gunasekara and National Convention Bureau General-Manager Voipula Wanigasekara.

A handout issued by the Press Information Department on Friday said the JWG meeting would be the first since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in tourism and archaeology between the two countries in Colombo in 2002.

During the meeting, the PID spokesman said, discussions would be held on ways to promote tourism between the two countries along with proposal to establish linkages between the training institutions in the field of local hospitality.

The delegation would also discuss the possibility of cooperation in the field of archaeology.

The Pakistan side, led by tourism secretary Saleem Gul, will comprise Ministry of Culture Additional-Secretary Khalid Saeed Haroon and other senior officials.
