KARACHI, April 6: A woman and her daughter killed themselves by drinking pesticide in the early hours of Wednesday. Police said Rukhsana, 50, was a resident of Bilal Colony in Quaidabad. Her husband, Zain, had died a few years ago. One of her sons became a drug addict. Unable to find a job, the other son also fell on evil ways.

Rukhsana drank pesticide on Tuesday night and was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre unconscious. As it became known that she might not survive, her teenaged daughter, Gul Naz, also drank pesticide. She, too, was taken to the JPMC.

Both mother and daughter passed away on Wednesday night.
