KARACHI, April 4: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Ammal on Monday decided to observe a ‘protest day’ on April 8 in the whole province against the arrest of its activists and booking them in “fake cases”. A meeting of the MMA Sindh was held here at Idara Noor-i-Haq with the MMA Sindh President, MNA Asadullah Bhutto, in the chair.

The meeting decided that the MMA would hold demos in front of mosques. The meeting reviewed the situation after the arrest of MMA leaders and activists. It was stated that 90 activists were arrested from Karachi, 18 from Sujawal, 44 from Sukkur, 29 from Pano Aqil, seven from Tando Adam, 13 from Ghotki, 17 from Shahdadpur, three from Shahdadkot and three from Thatta.

The meeting condemned the arrest of MMA leaders and activists and booking them in fake cases. It also condemned the raid on Idara Noor-I-Haq and arrest of JI Karachi Ameer Dr Merajul Huda and other MMA leaders.

Those who attended the meeting included MMA Sindh General Secretary Khalid Mehmood Soomro, JI Sindh Ameer Dr Mumtaz Memon, MNA Sahabzada Abul Khair Zubair, Rashid Naseem, Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed, Abdul Karim Abid, Hashim Siddiqui, Yousuf Kusuri, Qari Usman, Qazi Ahmed Noorani, Nasrullah Shaji and others.—PPI
