KARACHI, April 3: Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan bludgeoned a hurricane century to power PIA to a 92-run victory over Allied Bank in the opening round of the Patron’s Cup one-day cricket tournament at the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Park in Steel Town on Sunday. Moin smashed five sixes and 10 fours in scoring 109 off only 73 balls to help PIA amass 375 for six in their 50 overs. Besides Moin, Yasir Hameed blasted 71 off 81 balls on his return from the tour of India.

Yasir, who shared a first-wicket stand of 120 with Kamran Sajid, struck six fours and one six after Moin won the toss. Kamran made 60 off 56 balls with eight boundaries.

Shoaib Khan (58 off 50 balls, four fours and two sixes) then put on 128 with Moin as the PIA batsmen continued to score at will.

Despite quick knocks by Khalid Latif (49 off 39 balls, four fours and three sixes), Tahir Mughal (55 off 37 balls, seven fours and three sixes), skipper Ijaz Ahmed Jr (57 off 43 balls, six fours and one six), Mohammad Salman (64 off 41 balls, four fours and three sixes), the bankers fell well short of their target.

Janisar Khan was expense as his medium-pacers went for 68 runs, but he still managed to pick up five wickets.
