HYDERABAD, April 3: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has called for implementing development schemes planned under the president’s financial package for the city to provide immediate relief to people.Speaking at a meeting here on Saturday, he said establishment of parks had been planned under short-term schemes to provide recreational facilities to people.

He said priority would be given to the rehabilitation of Rani Bagh and Hyderabad zoo.

The DCO said parks would be developed in Pareetabad, Liaquat colony, vegetable market, Naseemnagar, Hussainabad, Hali Road and Latifabad.

He said a stadium would be constructed in the barrage colony for promotion of sports.

The DCO appointed a six-member committee to prepare project cost (PC-1) for schemes within one week to start the work.

The committee comprised the director building control, DO education works, town officers of the city, Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas.

He directed the relevant departments to prepare PC-1 for the rehabilitation of Muslims and minorities graveyards.

He said while preparing PC-1 it should be ensured that proper arrangements were made for the disposal of sewerage, construction of footpaths and boundary walls as well as lighting arrangements.

The DCO said the schemes were being prepared for the construction of filter plants in the Hala Naka and Pareetabad to provide clean drinking water to people.

He directed the officials concerned to prepare PC-1 for construction of overhead bridges in congested areas of the Zubaida Girls College Hirabad, St Mary’s Girls high School Tilak Incline, Kohinoor Chowk and Latifabad-7.

MPA Arshad Shah and MPA Aslam Parvez advocate, HDA director-general Tahir Ahmed and heads of all departments concerned attended the meeting.

MMA: A central leader of the MMA, MNA Khair Mohammad, has condemned the large scale arrests of the party leaders and workers during the strike on April 2.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said despite the use of government machinery and illegal methods to sabotage the strike, the masses had given an extraordinary response to the strike.

He said no act of violence or terrorism was reported on April 2 yet hundreds of workers were arrested in utter frustration by the government.

The MNA said no power on the earth could stop the protest movement against president-in-uniform and no immoral activities would be tolerated in the garb of enlightened moderation.

STPP: The chairman of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party and Ponam Sindh president, Dr Qadir Magsi, has condemned murderous attack on STPP leader Aijaz Samtio and other party leaders allegedly by MQM activists in Johar Complex Karachi.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Magsi said if an FIR was not registered against alleged terrorists and if the police failed to arrest them a series of protest demonstrations would be held throughout Sindh.
