ISLAMABAD, March 21: The Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, has postponed the Local Government bye-elections scheduled to be held in Punjab, Sindh and the NWFP on April 7, because of establishment of examination centres in buildings earmarked for polling stations. According to a press statement issued here on Monday, the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh and the NWFP had reported that the examination centres had been established in buildings earmarked as polling stations for holding of local government bye-elections.

Besides, the teaching staff which was appointed as polling personnel for the conduct of these bye-elections was not available to perform elections duties.—-PPI
