KARACHI, March 14: National champion Bilal Yasin and Kanwal Khan captured men’s and women’s singles table tennis titles played in Lahore on Monday, says a press release.

Bilal outlasted Jehangir Khan 11-9, 11-13, 8-11, 12-14, 11-9, 11-9 in the men’s singles final while Kanwal dropped one game before overcoming experienced Yasmeen Akhtar 11-9, 13-11, 7-11, 11-8.

The experience of Bilal proved decisive in the final as his younger opponent seemed to be overawed by the occasion.

Nazim Hussain upset national junior champion Shujaat Ali 11-9, 13-11, 7-11, 11-8 to lift the amateur singles crown. Nazim was aggressive from the outset and never allowed his rival to settle down to emerge worthy winner.
