QUETTA, March 13: Women and children of the Marri camp on Sunday protested against a fresh search operation and pelted the police force with stones.

Police contingent cordoned off some houses in the Marri camp and started house search for arms and ammunition. Police also tried to dig some places, but women and children came out of their homes and started pelting the force with stones.

A large number of women and children immediately gathered at the camp and started chanting slogans against the operation.

A spokesman for the protesting people claimed that police resorted to baton-charge and fired teargas shells to disperse the protesting women and children. He said that police even opened some graves during the operation.

However, DIG, Quetta range, Rafi Pervez Bhatti denied the claim about baton-charge and tear gas.

“Yes, the operation is has not been stopped against criminals and recovery of arms,” he said, adding that during search no arms and ammunition were recovered on Sunday.
