Arms, drugs seized; two held

PESHAWAR, March 13: Peshawar police seized a large quantity of arms, ammunition and narcotics from a pick-up and arrested two alleged smugglers on the Bara Road here on Sunday.

Official sources said that the Pishtakhara police signalled the Suzuki pick-up to stop during a routine checking of vehicles coming from Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency on the main Bara Road on Sunday morning.

Police found 11 Kalashnikovs, four pistols, 22 magazines of different weapons, 1700 cartridges and 16kgs of opium, concealed in specially created cavities in the vehicle.

They arrested Awal Sher alias Javed of Bara, and Javed alias Sher of Sarband village.

SHOT DEAD: Meanwhile, three brothers allegedly killed a teenager after exchange of hot words in Hazratabad locality of Sarband village, on the outskirts of the city, on Sunday, police officials said.

Sabz Ali told Pishtakhara police that Ayazul Haq, Ejazul Haq and Majidul Haq, residents of the same village, allegedly shot his 18-year-old son Farman dead after exchange of hot words on Sunday.

The accused escaped after committing the crime and the police have launched a search for them.
