ISLAMABAD, March 12: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) claims to have achieved a saving of Rs100 million in satellite charges and equipment purchases during the first six months of the financial year 2004-05.

The corporation has also claimed that it had recovered an outstanding amount of Rs544 million since July 2004. Collection of TV licenses through electricity bills was also another major initiative that improved the revenue streams, PTV claimed.

As a result of these measures, the PTV’s profit earning is said to have shot up to Rs84 million from July to December 2004.

The PTV said a new dynamic policy was introduced in the programming department during the current financial year allowing private productions on the state TV to give it a contemporary look.

In the marketing field, the PTV said the policy of dishing out of different time slots of different TV channels to private parties was put to an end and marketing department was geared up to market PTV programmes.
