QUETTA, March 7: The city police officer on Monday told a division bench of the Balochistan High Court that no one was arrested during the recent search operation in Marri camp.

The counsel of a petitioner presented a list of 56 people who allegedly had been detained during the raid.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, had told the Quetta police officer to file a detailed report in next hearing about the allegations of the petitioner that 44 persons were still in the custody of police.

The police officer appeared in person and submitted a report as per directives of the court and denied the arrest of any person from the Marri camp that was raided to recover arms and ammunition.

He submitted that the raid was lawful as legal procedures had been fulfilled during the search operation. The police had seized a huge quantity of weapons and explosive materials from the camp, he said.

The counsel for the petitioner who had submitted the list of 56 people who, according to him, were arrested, informed the court that 12 of them had been released. The court adjourned the hearing for a week and directed the police officer to submit report regarding the detention of 44 persons.
