HYDERABAD, March 7: The chief of Hyderabad traffic police has warned the owners of old and smoke-emitting commercial vehicles plying in the city to get the vehicles repaired and obtain road-worthiness certificate by March 18 , failing which legal action will be taken against them.

In a press statement issued here on Monday, he said that the district regional transport authority, in its recent meeting, had decided to launch a campaign against the vehicles. He said that a 15-day grace period had been given to the owners of such vehicles from March 3 to 18.

MUKHTIARKAR: The office of the Mukhtiarkar of Hyderabad taluka has been established at bungalow No.A/4, GOR Colony here. Concerned people have been advised to approach the new address.

AGE RELAXATION: The Sindh Public Service Commission has denied press reports that instead of implementing 10 years' age concession for candidates of jobs in government departments, it has decreased the age limit.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the secretary of the SPSC said that the posts of lecturers were advertised in October 2,004 with November 23 as closing date and scrutiny of the application forms was also held before the announcement regarding age concession.

He said that the commission, on receipt of a notification on March 2, 2005, had allowed age relaxation up to 10 years as per rules. He further denied that the SPSC had decreased upper age limit for the post of lecturer.

Meanwhile, the commission has announced the names of successful candidates interviewed by it for the posts of lecturer (BPS-17) male/female in various subjects in the provincial education and literacy department.

ARMY RECRUITMENT: Registration and enrolment as technician in electrical and mechanical engineers corps, signals corps and army aviation corps will be carried out up to 15th April.

According to an announcement, candidates having qualification of matriculation in science with B-grade up to height 5'-6" and age from 17 to 20 years up to 30 June are eligible to apply for above posts.
