HYDERABAD, March 4: Supporters of Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and sacked revenue minister Imtiaz Shaikh held demonstrations outside the press club here on Friday.

The pro-Arbab demonstration was led by the provincial senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League, Syed Shahabuddin Shah Hussaini. The workers carried placards and banners and raised slogans in support of the Sindh chief minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hussaini said the Sindh chief minister had taken bold decisions in the greater interest of Sindh and party. Youth and labour wing leaders, Mehmood Khan, Hameed Hingoro and Darya Khan Nahiyoo also spoke on the occasion. The pro-Imtiaz Shaikh demonstration was led by S.M. Ilyas and Khalid Jafri.

The supporters of Mr Shaikh raised slogans in his favour. The leaders of pro-Imtiaz faction said the crises were infact a conspiracy against the party. They demanded the seasonal leaders should be expelled from the party. They accused the Sindh chief minister of betraying the true and sincere party workers.

VC: The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has called upon university teachers to work hard to come upto expectations of society.

He was addressing faculty members who have been promoted in the next higher grade in various institutes and departments on Thursday. He said the university was selecting teachers without compromising on quality of education and hoped they would prove worthy of their selection. The vice-chancellor said the faculty members should work with spirit of sacrifices for their university and bright future of youth.
