KHAIRPUR, March 3: The anti-Kalabagh dam and greater Thal canal long march passed through different areas of the district on Thursday.

After staying for the night in the Hajano village, the protesters resumed their journey and passed through the Soorah Chowk, Kotdiji Bungalows, Kumb and other areas.

Speaking at a gathering in the Kotdiji town, Awami Tehrik chairman Rasool Bux Palijo, who is leading the protest, observed that construction of the Kalabagh dam and the Thal canal would ruin Sindh agriculture because its lands would turn barren.

He maintained that usurpation of Sindh's share of water of the River Indus for the last 20 years had caused the province loss of billions of rupees which should be paid to it. He said the peaceful struggle for rights of Sindh would continue.

PROTEST AGAINST HESCO: Three demonstrations were held against Hesco at different places here on Thursday. Residents of Haji, Liyari, Jogi, Thebo, Pir Misri, Khanan Buriro, Goondhero and other villages held a demonstration on the National Highway near the Liyari main chowk for two hours.

Residents of some villages in Thari Mirwah taluka's took out a procession against disconnection of power supply to their villages. In the Kingri taluka, residents of Priyaloi held a demonstration in front of the shrine of Sain Ismail here on Thursday against power load shedding.
