PESHAWAR, March 3: The NWFP Health Minister, Mr Inayatullah Khan, has expressed satisfaction over polio campaign and has underlined the need for intensifying efforts to wipe out polio from the NWFP.

The minister made surprise visits to various areas of Nowshera district to inspect field activities being carried out this morning. Provincial chief of EPI, Dr Waheed Khan, EDO Health Nowshera Dr Fawad Khan and others accompanied the ministers, said a handout on Thursday.

During the visit, the minister inspected performance of polio teams at Pabbi Satellite Hospital, DHQ Hospital Nowshera and Pashtoon Garhi. He also undertook door-to-door visits and inquired about polio teams' working. He said that as polio eradication campaign had entered final stages, there was a need of accelerated effort to eliminate the virus completely.

Similarly, Health Secretary Abdus Samad and D.G Health, Dr Jalilur Rehman also visited various areas of Charsadda district in connection with polio campaign and inspected polio vaccination activities at BHU Agra and BHQ Charsadda.

The health secretary authorities concerned to try their best to provide polio drops to each and every child of the age of below five years. During the current campaign 15,000 teams were engaged to administer polio drops to 5.5 million target population of children of under five year in settled areas of NWFP, Fata and the refugees camps.
