KHAIRPUR, Feb 28: The Pir Jo Goth sub-division of Hesco has disconnected power supply to 20 villages of the Ahmedpur area for non-payment of bills.

The villages include Chak Shaikh, Bhaledino, Old Ahmedpur, Sandela, Mubarak Shar, Khosa, Khwaja and Karim Dino Maitlo.

The affected villagers took out a protest procession against Hesco on Monday in Ahmedpur town and complained that despite payment of 70 per cent bills by the villagers, the power supply had been disconnected.

Terming it an instance of highhandedness of the Hesco officials, they threatened to stage sit-in on the National Highway bypass if the supply was not immediately restored.

CASE: A case pertaining to beating of a government official and snatching of government record was registered by the Kot Diji police on Monday. The complainant, Ghulam Abbas Shaikh, a Tapedar, stated in the FIR that he was visiting villages in the Chodaho area to recover farm taxes.

Six accused, including Ghulam Hussain Wassan and Yar Mohammad, argued with him over the taxes, beat him up and snatched Rs500 cash and government record from him. Meanwhile, the police have also registered a double murder case against wagon driver Ghulam Hussain Langah, charging him with the killings of police constable and a motorcyclist.
