HYDERABAD, Feb 18: The FIA officials arrested three men and seized Indian and Pakistani currency in a raid at Qasim Chowk here on Friday.

Those arrested were identified as Agha, Sohail and Doctor, according to assistant director of the FIA, Abdul Hameed Bhutto.

He claimed that Indian currency of Rs50,000 and Pakistani currency of around Rs5,000 with an unlicensed pistol and some live bullets had been seized in the raid. He said that the suspects were boarding a bus when the raid was conducted and details about them were being collected.

DOCTORS' PROTEST: Post-graduate and house officer doctors staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday to protest against non-payment of their stipends by the Sindh government.

Led by Dr Arshad Jatt and others, they said that former premier Chaudhry Shujaat had announced an increase in the stipend from Rs6,210 to Rs10,000 but they were not being paid even the former amount. They said that in other provinces, the house officers were getting the stipend.

CATTLE PEN: Residents of different localities at Hala Naka held a demonstration here on Friday to protest against existence of cattle pens in their area and demanded their removal.

The protesters were residents of Ismail Arain Colony and Umer Town and organized their protest under the aegis of the Chetan Welfare Foundation. They said that existence of cattle pens in Ismail Arain Colony had been causing inconvenience to inhabitants of the areas as they created many hurdles.
