GUJRANWALA, Feb 17: As many as 24 new telephone exchanges will start functioning in and around the city by June this year.

This was stated by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) director (telegraph) Ilyas Pretum while speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday.

He said 1008-line exchange was being established in Ahmadnagar (Wazirabad), 1800-line in Alipur Chattha, 1,008-line each in Bhri Shah Rehman, Verpal Chatha and Alipur Chowk, 800-line in export promotion bureau, 312-line each in Kot Baray Khan village, Deputy Commissioner Colony, Fateh wali, Gujranwala site, 304-line each in Kotli Dilbagh Rai, Maju Chak, Botala Jhanda Singh, Botala Sharam Singh, Mansoor wali, Viniawala and 512-line each in Wahando, Wazirki and Bhinderan and Alam Chowk.

He said the construction work on the exchanges had been completed while the machinery was being installed. Mr Pretum expressed the hope that the people of far-flung areas would get the telephone facility following functioning of these new exchanges. The divisional engineers and sub-divisional engineers besides other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
