KARAHCI, Feb 16: Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, judge anti-terrorism court (ATC-II) for Karachi division, on Wednesday recorded the statement of SHO Jackson as last defence witness in a case against Dr Akmal Waheed and Dr Arsahd Waheed and later fixed Feb 22 for final arguments in the case.

Iftekhar, SHO of Jackson, recorded his statement and said that FIR has been lodged by Abdul Waheed pertaining to kidnapping of his two sons for ransom. After the statement of DW, the defence closed its side, and the court fixed Feb 22 for final arguments in the case.

The accused were charged with harbouring terrorists belonging to Al Qaeda, Hizb-ul-Tehrir and other out-fits, providing medical treatment, financial assistance and other facilities to them.

BAIL REJECTED: The District and Session Judge South, Agha Rafiq, on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Farooq Mengal and Ms Zahida in Afreen Baig murder case.

Police charged Farooq Mengal, spouse of Afreen, with hatching a conspiracy, with his servants Mohammad Bux and Ms Zahida, to kill his wife. Afreen Baig, a TV artiste and producer, was found dead at her DHA residence in October 14, 2004. -APP/PPI
