KARACHI: Ex-army man stabbed to death

KARACHI, Feb 15: Unknown persons killed a ex-army man in Korangi on Tuesday night.

Police said the body of Gulzar Jamal, 42, father of four, was found near his house in sector 32-E of Korangi. The victim had suffered multiple stab wounds. Police said the victim had been missing since Monday night. His blood-soaked body was found on Tuesday morning.

ACCIDENT: Two persons died in separate road accidents on Tuesday. Police said 60-year old Shahnawaz was crossing the road when a speeding truck knocked him down. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said the errant driver escaped the spot.

In another accident, a pedestrian died when a truck knocked him down on the Sunset Boulevard in the Defence Housing Authority. Police said Fazal Amin, 40, was crossing the main thoroughfare when a speeding truck (LSA-3266) hit him. The victim died on the spot. Police shifted his body to the JPMC for legal formalities.

ARRESTED: CID police on Tuesday arrested an activist of an outlawed outfit in Lyari. Sources in the CID said that Tathirul Islam, alias Usman, was nabbed near the Kakri ground where he was roaming about in a suspicious manner. A TT pistol was seized from him. Police said the particulars of the suspect had been mentioned in the CID Red Book.
