PESHAWAR, Feb 14: The MMA government in the NWFP, through an amendment, has made flexible rules and regulations concerning investment in the mineral sector.

The new mechanism would rid investors of hardships and complicated procedures involved in the exercise.

Provincial minister Malik Zafar Azam said this during a meeting held here on Monday. He said that amendments to the Mining Concession Rules 1976 had been approved through an Act of the NWFP Assembly.

He said that the amended rules of 2005 would prove helpful for the promotion of investment in the province. He said the previous rules and regulations governing the mineral sector were flawed and represented an obstacle in the exploitation of minerals.

The investors would now make their investment without let or hindrance and pursue their job single-mindedly. He said investors would also get certain concessions in respect of lease. -PPI
